Skills for Change announced New Pioneers Awards recipients

The New Pioneers Awards (NPA), presented by Skills for Change, showcases the outstanding contributions made by immigrants and refugees within the Greater Toronto Area as a public educational event. Today, the New Pioneers Awards (NPA) has become one of the GTA’s landmark celebrations. Sometimes referred to as the “Oscars of Diversity”, the NPA is a unique event that positively and publicly acknowledges newcomers and their achievements across 6 award categories including; Arts, Community Service, Entrepreneurship, Science and Technology, Youth and Skills for Change Graduate.

“Years ago, Skills for Change realized the need to raise public awareness and recognition about the amazing contributions made by immigrants and refugees to our communities, but most importantly, recognition that’s initiated at the grass roots level of our community” explains Jane Cullingworth, Skills for Change’s Executive Director. “We are proud of the fact that the NPA truly is a community driven event whereby members of the community nominate worthy candidates and community volunteers conduct the selection process. Then we all come together at the NPA awards event to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of immigrants and refugees who now call Canada their home.”
